GMKE partner Amanda Coop chaired a panel on the use of artificial intelligence in claims resolution at the CLM’s June Focus Conference, held on June 12-13 in Nashville, Tennessee. The two-day event featured in-depth presentations on leading claims issues in the areas of cyber, subrogation, and transportation across multiple industries.
“AI in Insurance: New Frontier or Familiar Challenge?” was the session title, held on Thursday, June 12 from noon to 1:00 p.m. Panelists examined the intersection of AI, eDiscovery, and tort claim defense. They explained how plaintiffs leverage AI tools, discussed ethical considerations for defense attorneys, and compared AI’s perceived risks to historical concerns about email. The presentation also addressed protocols for outside counsel to effectively utilize litigation tools while navigating potential broader implications.
“AI is dramatically changing the defense of insurance claims and litigation for insurers and their defense counsel,” said GMKE partner Amanda Coop. “Attendees learned how to provide more efficient legal representation by using AI to streamline the entire litigation process and enhance fraud detection.”
