About Sharon

Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and English from Augustana College in 1986, graduating magna cum laude. She then earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia in 1990, graduating cum laude. While attending law school, she was a member of the Georgia Law Review.

Sharon began her legal career in 1990 with a mid-sized law firm in Atlanta handling medical and veterinary malpractice, negligent construction, automobile negligence, breach of fiduciary responsibility, and products liability defense matters. She handled files from inception to resolution including hearings, expert depositions, mediations, and bench and jury trials as well as an extensive motions practice. In 2001, she transitioned her practice to the staff counsel office of one of the country’s largest automobile insurers, handling more than 50 jury trials as lead counsel and numerous others as second chair. Sharon maintained a caseload involving complex legal issues and high financial exposure, including motions practice at the trial and appellate levels; depositions of parties, witnesses, police officers, and experts of varied specialties; mediations; and trials. She was also a Team Leader and Paralegal Liaison, and she would regularly provide training and mentoring to attorneys as well as paralegals. After 29 years as a Senior Trial Attorney, Sharon pivoted into a management role for staff counsel with another large insurer, handling both personal and commercial lines files. In this leadership role, her expertise in Georgia insurance law, evidence, and trial advocacy afforded her the opportunity to provide valuable knowledge and solutions to complex litigation questions and strategies.

Sharon joined Groth, Makarenko, Kaiser & Eidex in July of 2025. In her role at GMKE as Director of Attorney Learning & Development, Sharon leads the firm’s training and development initiatives for attorneys, drawing on her extensive Georgia litigation experience and knowledge. She serves as a mentor and advisor to new attorneys as they build their careers as well as more seasoned attorneys, displaying her deep commitment to excellence, integrity, engagement, and professionalism.

Sharon and her husband, Tony, live in Lilburn. Together, they have four adult sons and seven grandchildren. Sharon and Tony have visited 47 U.S. states together, and they love cheering for the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers, especially with their kids and grandkids joining the rally cry.
