About JAY
Jay was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Valdosta State University and earned a Bachelors degree in Political Science. He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1991. Upon graduation, Jay commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps and was assigned to the Treasure Island Naval Station in San Francisco, California. Jay was a Courts Martial Defense counsel where he defended military personnel facing judicial and non-judicial offenses. Jay underwent several deployments on the aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln providing legal assistance to military personnel.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy in 1995, Jay became a member of the State Bar of California. While in California, Jay practiced primarily in the area of insurance defense. In 2016, Jay relocated to the Atlanta area where he continued to practice in the field of insurance defense, representing individuals and corporations. In his 30 plus years of practice, Jay has tried over 250 jury and bench trials to verdict. Jay joined GMKE as an associate attorney in September of 2025.
Jay resides in Dacula. He is a third degree black belt in Kajukenbo karate. He trains at a local dojo and fills in as an instructor for a women’s self-defense class.
